Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

A global cloud platform that serves as the infrastructure foundation for QuickBI's entire data warehouse solution.

Overview

Google Cloud Platform is Google's public cloud platform, covering compute, storage, networking, data analytics, and AI and machine learning services. It's one of the world's leading cloud platforms alongside Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Google introduced its first cloud service, App Engine, as a preview in April 2008, and it became an official, fully supported product in November 2011. Since then, Google Cloud Platform has grown into a platform spanning dozens of services, serving everyone from small businesses to the world's largest organizations.

Pricing

Google Cloud Platform services are mainly priced on a pay-as-you-go basis. Most services also offer commitment-based discounts for companies with steady, predictable usage.

Key GCP services

BigQuery : the core of QuickBI's data warehouse solution, where all of a customer's data is brought together for reporting and analysis.

Cloud Storage : an object storage service used, among other things, to temporarily hold raw data before it's loaded into the data warehouse.

IAM (Identity and Access Management) : an identity and access management service that ensures only authorized people can access the data.

Dataform : QuickBI's go-to data modeling tool, which transforms raw data into reporting-ready data directly inside BigQuery.

Compute Engine and Cloud Run : compute resources for running applications and automations in the cloud.
